DEWEY DECIMAL SYSTEM DAY

In 1905 during a 10-day trip to Alaska sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), a group he co-founded, he made unwelcome advances on four prominent librarians who informed Association officials. As a result, Dewey was ostracized from the ALA.

This is Rauleigh, previously seen in the colorful kitchen. He’s almost 10 (Edit: I made a mistake, he is about 8 in these 1951 photos) in this Kodachrome taken at the “south porch” door of a cabin in Running Springs, California in 1951. From a set found in a thrift store.

Culpability?   Also LWOP, is a consideration but that means the responsible party is alive and possibly reliving their crime(s) with joy while the victim’s quality of life is destroyed or they are dead.  I am a death penalty advocate when there is no room for doubt.   I say BS on the “adolescent brain”, degrees of responsibility for their action.  If this is the case, then driver’s licenses should not be issued until people are in their mid-20’s.

Quotes December 8, 2016

Excerpt from For The Traveler:
May you travel in an awakened way,
Gathered wisely into your inner ground;
That you may not waste the invitations
Which wait along the way to transform you.

May you travel safely, arrive refreshed,
And live your time away to its fullest;
Return home more enriched, and free
To balance the gift of days which call you.
John O’Donohue
