Limecello -> Happy Women’s History Month! (aka SWHM at ALBTALBS)

Hi friends! As you probably know, March is Women’s History Month, and here at A Little Bit Tart, A Little Bit Sweet, we always try to give a nod to the Smithsonian Heritage Months. You probably also know that it’s low key or not depending on how interested people are in participating in any given month. That’s all there is to it. Of course if you ever have suggestions of people or you yourself would like to guest post (please!) – do let me know!

Limecello: Shout out to February ALBTALBS Sponsors!

Hi friends! I don’t talk about it much, but there are costs to running a blog, and I try offset the monetary loss by offering advertising spots! It’s not something I do aggressively, but I’m always happy to have sponsors. I’ve also taken to highlighting them because well, it’s a win-win, right? Recently I also had someone who bought ad spots as gifts for friends, and I thought that was super cool too. Just something for you to keep in mind. 😉
And who doesn’t like to hear more about books?

Limecello: Do You Care About Diversity?

Hi friends! Since 2014 I’ve tried to do an annual celebration of the [Smithsonian] Heritage Months at A Little Bit Tart, A Little Bit Sweet. I went with the Smithsonian calendar because it was definitive. Last year I added Pride because … well a number of reasons.

The Smithsonian Heritage Months are as follows:

February: Black History Month
March: Women’s History Month
May: Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM)
June: Pride Month
September 15-October 15: Hispanic Heritage Month
November: Native American Heritage Month

ALBTALBS Celebrates Our 7th Blogiversary with a $7 Ad Spot Sale

Hi friends! So, as you see, ALBTALBS turned 7! No real giveaways or other celebratory things planned for now. … If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know my “try too hard” … died? (A while ago…) Also I’ve had … you know… *gestures expansively* a lot going on. And because this is a question I see still … “What is ALBTALBS?” … ALBTALBS = A Little Bit Tart, A Little Bit Sweet. The name of this site. 😀

I’m really trying to bring ALBTALBS back though, with more regular posting, and I’ve got an awesome review crew and help and just, major shout out to N.R., Babs, Karen, Aidee, and Mary. [We may not be the most prolific, but we are stalwart!]

So anyway, for now, the most celebratory thing I’m doing is offering a month of ad space for $7. This will be the lowest price offered, and is good through January 15th. (Normally ad spots are $15/month.) If you’re interested, please let me know. Space is limited.

And a big shout out to the ALBTALBS friends/sponsors of January ’18! Tina Leonard, Nicole Morgan, and Cynthia Sax.

Limecello: Karen’s Top 10 Reads of 2017

The first Team ALBTALBS List! (I always wait until January of the next year to post in case someone read an OMFG AMAZING LOVELOVELOVE book that should go on the list on say, December 31.)

There were so many good books I read on 2017 that to pick 10 is actually hard, however:

ALBTALBS Presents: Were-Spoof Stories 2.3! Night of the Were-Hare by N.R. Lines

Hi friends! Sorry for the delay. Totally my fault :X If you’re totally new to A Little Bit Tart, A Little Bit Sweet (ALBTALBS), you’ve been missing out on spoof were-animal stories! More recently we’ve had a specific sort, that was going up weekly, but I broke the pattern. But have no fear! Today we have the last but definitely not least installment of this “series.” So, enjoy!

Night of the Were-Hare

Of all the places to have a flat tire Clyde had to choose this stretch of lonely highway. The highway Katie’s GPS had her believing was a shortcut back to civilization. Katie kicked the front tire of her ancient 1982 Pontiac Bonneville, cursing whoever had used an air-wrench to tighten the lug nuts to the point where only someone with super human strength could loosen them. She leaned inside the open passenger side window, grabbed her cell phone off the seat, cursed again when she got exactly zero bars.
