Gail Phillips, former speaker of Alaska House, gravely ill
The second woman to become Alaska House Speaker (Ramona Barnes was the first) is gravely ill and her family has gathered for final farewells in Anchorage. Phillips, born in Juneau, raised in Nome, is Alaskan through and through and was very influential in Alaska history. She is just an amazing person and her life has been extraordinary. We’ll fill you in on more details soon, but say a prayer for the Phillips family.
