1884 – The Fabian Society is founded in London, United Kingdom.[11]
The Fabian Society is a British socialist organisation whose purpose is to advance the principles of democratic socialism via gradualist and reformist effort in democracies, rather than by revolutionary overthrow.[1][2] Fabian Society was also historically related to radicalism, a left-wing liberal tradition.[3][4][5]
As one of the founding organisations of the Labour Representation Committee in 1900, and as an important influence upon the Labour Party which grew from it, the Fabian Society has had a powerful influence on British politics. Other members of the Fabian Society have included political leaders from other countries, such as Jawaharlal Nehru, who adopted Fabian principles as part of their own political ideologies. The Fabian Society founded the London School of Economics in 1895.
Today, the society functions primarily as a think tank and is one of 20 socialist societies affiliated with the Labour Party. Similar societies exist in Australia (the Australian Fabian Society), in Canada (the Douglas–Coldwell Foundation and the now-disbanded League for Social Reconstruction), in Sicily (Sicilian Fabian Society) and in New Zealand (The NZ Fabian Society).[6]

KarmaTube: The Well of Being
The Well of Being is an exquisite ‘children’s book for adults,’ one that encompasses the journey of life from the Big Bang, to this very moment that we find (or lose) ourselves in. Jean-Pierre Weill spent three years writing and illustrating this book about himself– and perhaps everyone. Playful and profound in its approach to the human condition, Weill’s words and whimsical drawings reveal the multiple ways in which we create narratives about ourselves and the world, and then proceed to confine ourselves within them. Why live in the cramped quarters of anxious self-doubt and unsettled expectation when there is a way out? All it takes is remembering. Remembering that we are already possessed of that which we seek, and that within us lies the unstinting well — of being. Watch and be enchanted by this gorgeous animated version of Weill’s timeless book.
