It was an accident that a loaded weapon was left unsecured?
UPDATE on 7/28/18:
Last night’s shooting on Chugach Way appears to be accidental. Initial indications are that two children were being babysat by an adult family member while the parents were at work; the adult did not live in the home. When the adult stepped out of the kitchen, the 5-year-old male reached into a kitchen cupboard, retrieved a loaded handgun, and inadvertently shot himself in the upper body. No one else was injured.

This investigation is still ongoing. No criminal charges have been filed at this time. The name of the deceased will be released once next-of-kin notification procedures have been completed.
