Juneau – The Research Center of the Alaska State Library – Historical Collections and Alaska State Archives will be open to the public by appointment only beginning October 20, 2020. Appointments must be made at least 48 hours in advance. The State Library Reading Room will remain open for patrons to check materials in or out, use public computers and Wi-Fi, or to utilize the space. The following hours will remain in effect:

Research Center (by appointment only) and Reading Room hours:

Tuesday through Friday, except State holidays
12 noon to 4:00 p.m.

Guidelines to ensure the safety of all visitors and staff:

Face coverings are required. When available, face coverings may be provided.
Social distancing of at least six feet should be maintained between individuals and household groups.
Plexiglass barriers have been installed at the Library and Research Center information service desks.
Library and Archives equipment and computer stations have been spaced to maintain social distancing and will be cleaned between patron uses.
If you are ill, do not enter.
Public programs, guided tours, and rentals remain cancelled.
High-touch surfaces will be sanitized daily.
Handwashing may be done in the public restroom. Hand sanitizer will be provided when available.

The Alaska State Libraries and Archives are compliant with State mandates pertaining to Alaska State Libraries, Archives, and Museums and plans to re-open in phases. Visit the COVID-19 health mandates and advisories website for up-to-date information on State mandates.
