Kimp reluctantly came to Alaska in 2013, serving in the 501st Airborne Infantry Regiment. He says it didn’t take long for he and his family to fall in love with Alaska, later retiring at Fort Richardson, and making Alaska their home. Throughout his nearly 18 year career in the Army, Kimp served as an adjutant general and played trumpet in the band.
