Soapbox: I applaud the feel good act. There is nothing wrong with helping those in need. One does what one can. But let’s talk about helping hands and hand-outs. Why not charter a bus, pick them up and take them to a shelter? There is no shelter space available or they don’t want help? Meanwhile, these folks have announced they are not home so what are the chances someone will break in and rob them?
