Saturday was Remembrance Day in Canada. Sometimes known as Poppy Day, it takes its origin from the poem “In Flanders Fields” written during the first World War by Canadian physician Lieutenant-Colonel John McCraet. November 11 is a national day of remembrance, honoring the lives lost and sacrifices given by those who have fought and died for our country.
