Tonight was the perfect example of the waiting game. We set up and waited to see if anything was going to happen, it did but it wasn’t much and it only lasted a couple minutes but because we was ready we was able to get the shot.

Shot with my fellow Olympus com padre Jamie A MacDonald this evening down at Pere Marquette beach. wasn’t really expecting lighting but again we got a little light show and I was lucky enough to capture this image.

With just weeks left for the Great American Eclipse, I decided to shoot the sunrise sequence using my solar filter. During the eclipse, I’ll likewise be focusing on doing a wide-angle and telephoto composite. The foreground was taken before the sunrise to get a silhouette of the Empire State Building in New York City. The remaining solar disc imaging was done using my solar filter.
Canon 5D Mark III, Canon EF 100-400 mm F4.5-5.6 L Lens
Exposures:
Foreground – 220mm @ ISO 100, F8.0, 1/800s
Sun sequence: 220mm @ ISO 640, F8.0, 1/320s spaced 2 minutes 30 seconds apart

Morning tranquility .. 🙂 Wake up well before the sunrise you’ll be rewarded with a fascinating view during this month ! Here is the scene I witnessed from Australian east coast, where Venus and Orion constellation were shining in all their glory. Even airglow with its characteristic (for us in the South) red color added a nice touch to the image (visible on the right). Beautiful Pleiades and Hyades star clusters can be also seen in the center / left. I really did enjoy the moment ! I hope you’ll like it too 🙂 #Nikon #D810a #Australia

By campfire in Australian forest 🙂 Would you go there ? Here is the view I witnessed during my recent trip to this wonderful country. Sitting by cosy fire place under incredible Milky Way – what could be better ?! During this very night the wind was pretty strong, however it didn’t spoil our experience. Janice Reynolds in Nokomis, Saskatchewan, Canada caught two different sky phenomena in this photo from July 30, 2017. Her photo is looking east in late day, when the sun is setting – or soon to set – the west. The photo shows both a double rainbow and anticrepuscular rays, both always seen in a direction opposite the sun.
Janice wrote: I saw this looking to the east. We had just had a very bad storm with very high sudden winds, thunder, lightening and some rain. I had rushed to the barnyard to lock up my animals and got stuck in it and took shelter in the barn with the animals. After the storm cleared, I fed and locked them up and the sky was clearing as quickly as it had blown in. The sun was starting to poke through the clouds. As I was heading back to the house, I saw this image and took the photo. So strange.
