When it comes to life, the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or whether you take them with gratitude.
G.K.Chesterton
According to writer Seth Godin, there are two ways to live in the world: with a “have to” attitude or a “get to” attitude. The latter mindset opens up the world and all the possibility of goodness therein and the former shuts down the heart and closes the door on the world. So the question is, how do we want to live? Too often, we have taken the gifts around us for granted and end up feeling entitled. We can begin to find gratitude by looking at our lives with open eyes and take steps toward being grateful, even in the hard times. We may not always know where this will take this, but -as Seth Godin saysno one gets “to Cleveland by knowing every turn from here to Cleveland. You start driving and get directions as you go.” This is the essence of living a life of gratitude.
